A. General Admission And Visitor Conduct FAQ
01When will admission charges be imposed for visiting galleries at BSAS?
Admission charges are effective from 18 June 2026.
02Which galleries will require paid admission tickets and which areas remain free?
A ticket is required to access the four Kuala Lumpur City Gallery exhibition spaces on the first floor:
- Confluence Hall,
- Visionary Hall,
- Hikayat Chamber, and
- Harmony Hall.
A single ticket provides access to all four galleries.
The rest of the areas remain freely accessible, including:
- Royal Selangor Gallery (Ground Floor)
- Heritage Room / BOH Exhibition (Ground Floor)
- Collector’s Chamber (First Floor)
Admission charges are effective from 18 June 2026.
03Who needs to purchase an admission ticket?
All visitors entering the paid galleries require a valid admission ticket, except children aged 5 years and below. Children in this age group must be accompanied by a parent or guardian holding a valid ticket.
04Are there any discounts or complimentary admission programmes available?
Yes.
- STR Complimentary Admission: Khazanah is offering one complimentary admission per year to the paid galleries at BSAS for eligible Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients who also receive Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) Bulanan assistance, together with their registered household members.
- Senior Citizens and OKU: Senior citizens aged 60 years and above, and persons with a valid OKU card aged 6–59 years, are entitled to a 50% discount on admission fees.
- Families: Family combo rates are available for 2 parents and up to 3 children aged 6-17. Children aged 5 years and below enjoy complimentary admission.
05How can I check ticket prices and purchase tickets?
Tickets may be purchased online via klcitygallery.my or in person at the Visitor Centre (Balai Tamu) on the ground floor. Current admission prices are available on the website.
06Are tickets refundable or transferable?
No. Tickets sold are non-refundable, and non-transferable.
07What payment methods are accepted?
The galleries operate on a cashless basis. Visitors may pay using debit cards, credit cards, or e-wallets. Cash payments are not accepted.
08 Must I keep my ticket during the visit?
Yes. Visitors may be requested to present their ticket or confirmation for inspection at any time during the visit.
09What happens if I lose my ticket?
Lost tickets will not be replaced. Visitors are responsible for safeguarding their admission confirmation and ticket throughout the visit.
10Is re-entry allowed?
Re-entry is not permitted. Each gallery ticket is valid for a single entry only. Once a visitor exits a gallery, re-entry to that gallery is not allowed. Visitors are advised to complete their visit before leaving the gallery.
11Can management refuse entry?
Management reserves the right to:
- refuse entry;
- revoke admission; or
- request visitors to leave the premises for:
- security reasons,
- misconduct,
- fraudulent ticket usage,
- abusive behaviour, or
- non-compliance with gallery rules.
12What are the galleries operational hours?
Kuala Lumpur City Gallery is open daily from 9am to 6pm.
13What time is the last admission to the galleries?
Last admission to the paid galleries is at 5pm. Please arrive early for verification of advance ticket purchase.
14Are food and drinks allowed inside the galleries?
No food or drinks are allowed inside the gallery areas.
15Are large bags allowed?
Large bags are not allowed due to safety and security reasons. Please contact reception for assistance if large bags are present.
16Is photography allowed in the galleries?
Commercial photography is prohibited unless approved.
Photography for personal use may be permitted in selected areas. However, the following is prohibited:
- flash photography;
- tripods; and
- drones.
17Can operating hours or gallery access change?
Management reserves the right to:
- change operating hours;
- amend ticketing policies;
- revise admission prices;
- limit visitor capacity; or
- close certain areas without prior notice due to operational, safety, maintenance, or other requirements.

B. STR Complimentary Admission FAQ
19What is the STR Complimentary Admission Initiative?
The initiative provides eligible STR recipients and their registered household members with one-time complimentary admission per calendar year to participating galleries under Khazanah Nasional Berhad initiative.
20Who is eligible for the complimentary admission?
Subject to verification, eligibility is limited to:
- Active SARA Bulanan recipients as confirmed through the MyKasih status check system https://checkstatus.mykasih.net/sara2/checkstatus; and
- Registered household members under the same STR household record.
Eligible household members must visit together with the primary recipient to enjoy this benefit.
21Is the complimentary admission unlimited?
No.
The complimentary admission is:
- limited to one redemption per calendar year, per site (i.e. one complimentary visit per year to the paid galleries at BSAS and one complimentary visit per year to the paid galleries at Seri Negara);
- available until further notice; and
- subject to successful verification.
Subsequent visits within the same year will be charged based on prevailing Malaysian admission rates.
22What documents are required for STR verification?
Visitors are required to present:
- Their original MyKad; and
- MyKad / MyKid for accompanying household members.
Management reserves the right to request additional verification documents.
23How is household eligibility determined?
Household eligibility may be validated based on:
- STR household record;
- MyKad verification; and/or
- Other supporting documents.
24Can friends or non-household members join under the complimentary admission?
No. Friends and non-household members are not entitled to complimentary admission.
25Can the complimentary admission be transferred to another person?
No. The entitlement:
- is strictly non-transferable; and
- tied to verified identification.
26What happens if my STR verification fails?
Visitors whose verification is unsuccessful may still proceed with standard admission fares.
C. BSAS Kuala Lumpur City Gallery Walk-in Verification
27How does STR redemption work at BSAS?
Visitors may proceed to the verification counter at Visitor Centre (Balai Tamu). Upon successful verification, complimentary admission will be issued accordingly.
28How long does the verification process take?
Verification timing normally will take around 5 minutes however it is subject to:
- visitor volume;
- document completeness; and
- system availability.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early during weekends and public holidays.
